Help Us Honor The 230,000 Lives That Perished During The January 12th, 2010 Earthquake In Haiti May 18th 2010 will mark the 206th of Haiti’s independence as a nation. This year, Haitian Flag Day will be celebrated in the shadow of the aftermath of the devastating earthquake of January 12, 2010. This earthquake killed over 230,000 men, women and children and in the tumult and chaos that followed, proper burials could not be done. This tragedy has brought a sense of lost pride to Haitians at home and outside of the country. On Sunday, May 16th 2010 at noon, Haitians and friends of Haiti alike will join for a day of prayer and solidarity with the nation of Haiti to honor its’ lost sons and daughters. Please wear the red and blue colors of the Haitian flag. This memorial will show all those who survived the earthquake that New Yorkers are advocating for a new and progressive Haiti that will raise the standards of living for all.

The Itinerary For A Day Of Solidarity And Prayers For Haiti’s Lost Sons And Daughters:
Noon: Prayer gathering at Grand Army Plaza Archway
1:00 pm: Procession from Grand Army Plaza Archway over the Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan ending in Foley Square Park. All permits secured from NYPD and NYC Parks Department.
3:30 pm: Ceremony in Foley Square Park to give thanks for all of the support that Haiti has received from around the world. The history of the Haitian nation and its flag will be shared. Expressions of hope for a new Haiti to honor the 230, 000 Haitians that perished in the earthquake.
4: 53 pm: Moments Of Silence Close With An Ecumenical Ceremony To Pray For And Honor Haiti’s Lost Sons And Daughters Dismissal.
